The Right Health Care for You

Medicine is not one-size-fits-all. In fact, each patient’s condition, situation and preferences are different. To help empower people to be fully informed and active participants in their health care, the Foundation has developed a Shared Decision-Making® program called Getting the Healthcare that’s Right for You.

This program is for individuals who want to be more involved in and improve the quality of their health care. It includes a step-by-step guide for making an informed treatment decision, as well as information on using medical tests, managing medications and finding reliable medical information.

Interviews feature real patients and providers describing their personal experiences and strategies in shared decision making, such as a strong provider-patient relationship, preparation, knowledge and involvement.
