A Randomized Mixed-Methods Cross-Over Study to Compare the Performance of Traditional DVD and Web-Based Patient Decision Support

To date, few randomized trials have directly compared the same Decision Support Interventions (DESIs) delivered through different media. While earlier efforts focused principally on booklets and videos, more recently the majority of DESI development efforts have focused on creating interactive electronic tools that can be delivered through the internet. However, very little is known about how web-based DESIs perform in comparison to more traditional video DESIs, such as those developed and distributed by the Informed Medical Decisions Foundation. PAMF became a Foundation funded demonstration site in 2009 in order to build a sustainable model to promote shared decision making (SDM) and use of decision aids (DAs). Continue reading
